update closes everything and doesn't download

3.5
After finding the updates, when I click download, Update closes itself and therefore no updates are downloaded.

I reproduced this behaviour on two different machines.

An error window pops up saying:
SokoUpdate.exe
Windows cannot find 'SokoUpdate.exe'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. To search for a file, click the Start button, and then click Search. [OK]

ptellier!

Try this. Download this file:
http://www.sourcecode.se/sokoban/download/SokoUpdate.exe
and replace the one in your installation.

My theory is that updating SokoUpdate.exe failed when going from 3.0.4 to 3.0.5.

Hello --

Using Sokoban 3.0 build 5:
SokoUpdate.exe 1.12 -- the update window/program close without updating.
SokoUpdate.exe 2.0 -- the update window/program close and the error message posted above appears.

Using two installations on same machine -- 1 in documents/sokoban 3.0 and 1 in program files/sokoban 3.0

(system cleared and rebooted before trying each installed exe and update file).

SokoUpdate.exe IS allowed in my firewall (both as program and service).
Sokoban for Windows IS allowed in my firewall (both as program and service).

Firewall was shutdown and same results happened.

3.0 build 5 was uninstalled and reinstalled (with system clean inbetween including regedit).

Just wanted ya to have the scoops from here Smile

Thanks Bjorn (and FYI -- for some reason your were put in a spam folder in my e-mail (OUCH). Apologies.

I did this. Now instead of simply closing, I get an error message from Windows saying it can't find SokoUpdate.exe, even though the file is THERE and I can see it.

Try double clicking SokoUpdate.exe. There must be some dll or bpl file missing.

gives you the same result(s).

When double clicking SokoUpdate.exe, does it give any error?

The normal behaviour is to silently exit, since it is called without any parameters.

No error message is given, in fact... 2.0 won't even execute at all anymore as a standalone. I have written over the 1.12 version so I can not give you additional information about execution/error.

I have gone to the level libraries and have downloaded the new ones as they appeared on the update window so no troubles here. I'll wait til 3.0 build 6 for tweaks.

Until then thank you and a Happy New Year to the hardest working programer around!

I've been having the same problem as ptellier. I tried your suggestion, bjorn, and get an error that says "Failed to read Update.sfl". Sad

Hi everybody with Live Update problems. Please help me solve these problems.

Download this:
http://www.sourcecode.se/sokoban/download/debug/SokoUpdate.exe
save it and replace the one you got in the folder where Sokoban is installed.

Run Sokoban and activate the "Check for new files" function. It will probably not work, but it will generate a file called UpdDbg.txt in the folder called MyDocuments\Sokoban 3 or Documents\Sokoban 3. Please send me the UpdDbg.txt file.
